Our residents are picture perfect

A group of residents living in our Holy Cross nursing home are beaming about the part they played in helping a local university student with her final assignment.

After writing to our home, photography student Charlie was delighted to be able to set up her studio in our activities lounge where she invited residents to sit for their portraits.

“I chose to explore the theme of identity and take portraits of every age from one to 100 to show how people’s visual identity changes as they progress through life,” said Charlie.

“I wanted to work with people from my home community of Sunderland and remembered Holy Cross from my time at school, so wrote to ask if I could come along to take the photos. The home is so calm and welcoming and everyone was so kind and friendly. It was the perfect environment for me to capture the shots I wanted.”

Dot, was one of our residents who agreed to sit for their portrait. “Charlie was so easy to talk to and so professional,” she said. “It was something really different and I thoroughly enjoyed taking part.”

We all wish Charlie the very best with her assignment and her career.
