Celebrating International Women’s Day

Two carers with a resident in St Catherine's nursing home

On International Women’s Day, women everywhere are being celebrated and we want to join in by celebrating a few of our own.

Carers Carly and Alice are just 18 years old and have already completed their Level 2 and Level 3 Health and Social Care qualifications while working in our St Catherine’s nursing home.

Both women have ambitions to continue their studies and are loving their jobs in our nursing home.

“We get some great tips on life from our residents,” said Carly. “They have all led such interesting lives and are full of great advice.”

One resident is sharing almost a century of wisdom with our care staff. Win celebrates her 100th birthday in the summer and has been quite a trailblazer in her time, working as a shoe buyer in her younger days.

Rhona lives along the corridor from Win and is another of our pioneering residents, opening a vegetarian bed and breakfast with her husband long before being a vegetarian was as popular as it is today. Her venture was so successful it received a glowing review in a guide book to the best places to stay for vegetarians, vegans and wholefooders.

On this special day we salute all the amazing women who work for us and those we have the privilege of caring for.
