Residents and staff at our St Catherine’s Nursing Home in Newcastle have taken inspiration from nature and the arrival of autumn to bring a seasonal touch to one of their favourite meeting places.
Their spacious lounge has been filled with hand-painted leaf pictures and garlands to reflect the amazing colours of the changing season on show in the home’s private gardens.
And, although this spectacle of nature happens each year, it never fails to inspire.
“I’ve learned so much today, just taking time to observe things around us,” said Sheila. “I’ll never look at a leaf in the same way again.”
Staff at the home have joined in with the theme, too, popping in for a quick game of conkers or lending their talents to providing a colourful basket of knitted autumnal produce.
All in all, autumn has been far from a time for hibernation.
